The MS day is 17 minutes shorter than the ES school day, so they have a little more free time after school.

+1 Unfortunately public schools don't offer recess for middle school or junior high. Every private middle school or junior high I know of does offer it. I wish public middle schools had recess. It is such a great thing for kids to have free, running around time.

At WMS they are allowed to be in the courtyard during lunch. They do have PE a few times a week.

Mine was in 7th last year in a good school and only went in person for three months. He saw his share of vaping in the bathrooms, selling various drugs and sexual acts. Middle schoolers don’t need unsupervised recess time. It was this way even when I went to middle school.

Swanson allows the kids to play frisbee or football in the field during lunch, according to my DD.

Sadly no. I wish there was. I teach high school and I swear they need a big kid recess too.

Rising 6th grader just asked me if APS middle school has recess and I realized that I don’t know. Is there any sort of break in the day besides lunch analogous to elementary school recess?
