This is really sad. I lived in dc for years as a young adult and as a young family. We’d go out to dinner all the time. As a grad student I’d be out after midnight. It always seemed safe. I was never afraid. After the last few weeks I don’t feel safe anymore. A date night in the city isn’t worth it. As lame as this sounds I’d rather eat at a stupid restaurant in Bethesda and live.

This is the second drive by in less than a month during evening hours, so it’s certainly worse than you would think based on the restaurants and stores.

Cops were on the scene very quickly.

There was also a major police presence at 7th and Florida at around 6:40 pm, helicopter up, and when I went to 13th as an alternate route home there was a a bunch of cops at 13th and I want to say Kennedy who appeared to have people stopped.
