About fifty if you include sports bras. And I haven't worn a single one of them in over a year.

I had a baby last year and my size changed so I recently overhauled my bra inventory.

Right now i have 4 of the main bra I wear everyday. Thats enough to wear twice and wash them all 1x per week. I agree with the saleslady that if you were them many days in a row they start to fits not great (cups stretch out, etc.).

One thing I would flag is if they are the same braw dont take all the tags off until she's worn one all day and washed it (both sports and regular). My drawers contain other almost-new bras that are in a bra graveyard bc I bought them and wore them for a bit before deciding Id rather cut my hand off than wear it again.

Side comment for large breasted and nursing ladies: I am obsessed with Bravado Designs bras from Nordstrom; comfortable and supportive.

It is really unlikely your daughter will hand wash bras if living in the dorms. I would make sure she has something to use with a machine.

I wear bras just once before washing in summer but go longer during the rest of the year. I bought these contraptions on Amazon that have a plastic basket covered by a mesh bag. You zip the bra in and throw it in the washer. It doesn’t mangle the cups. I line dry.

I wear mostly sports style bras from Aerie, which are regularly 40% off, so I have at least a dozen of those. For nice bras I probably have 6 in various colors (tan, black, navy) for wearing under nicer clothing or specific dresses. I am small chested though and am completely comfortable in bras without underwires, so I can buy and have a ton of the cheap ones, for a college student I think what you've already purchased seems fine. Get her a soak wash basin and tell her she needs to wash them every couple of days and if she likes the style that she can get a couple more at winter break.

Also, I definitely wear my bras waaaaaay more than twice before washing, although I'm not a particularly sweaty person.

Ha I wear my rotate my three bras for like two or three weeks before washing. Sports bras I wash after one wear, so I have like ten of those. I get cheap ones from target.

I think this is fine for college. If she has to wash after one wear, she can. They dry overnight. Sports bras can go in regular wash. Other bras can be hand washed and hung over shower and dry pretty quickly

I have 5. 3 are fancy bras that make me look very good and I wear it to work. Black, nude and white.

2 are the stretchy comfy bras that are like t-shirts. Super comfy and slight support only. I wear only those primarily. They don't make my body look that great but I am ok with it.

Does your daughter have special needs? If not, you need to give her a budget and let her manage it. For clothes, food, everything. $X/month and see you at Thanksgiving. ASAP!

At least seven, one for every day of the week. I can't imagine re-wearing my bra without washing; that's a sweaty part of my anatomy.

I realize this sounds silly but my college sophomore dd needs all new bras as none of her current ones fit properly. We went someplace yesterday and she liked how they fit so we ordered four regular and four sports bras. The lady at the store said she could wear them two days max before washing (and they need to be hand dried). Dd will likely have to hand wash bc not sure there is a gentle cycle on the washer in her dorms (and she said she only does laundry once a week). The lady at the store said if she gets sweaty, she will have to wash after one wearing. It is super hot on campus the first few weeks. Should I get her more? Wait to make sure she likes wearing them as they are about $65 and I have been burned before with bras she liked in the store that turned out not to work at home? In any event, how many does a reasonable person have? I no longer wear bras since I had a prophylactic double mastectomy or I would just look in my own drawer.
