I completely agree. I have a 16yr. old and an almost 13. And no, I would not put my younger one with a bunch of hormonal, dirty mouth 16 teenage boys.

And 16 is closer to adult than to 12. In MD, they are the age of consent.

What's done is done, but between these two issues, I'd probably be looking at a different camp for next year, unless my kid had an amazing time.

I would ask my kid how they felt about it and if there were problems or things that made him uncomfortable, and only follow up if there was a real problem. If they moved up enough 12 year olds so he didn't feel out of place, it might not have been an issue.

No. It would have been best to create a "medium" cabin with maybe 12-14 year olds but what's done is done at this point. I wouldn't send him back, though, because it speaks to a larger disorganization issue.

Say your drop off your 12 year old at camp for a week and on the third or fourth day you notice through pictures that it appears he's in a cabin with 15/16 year olds, so you call the camp but get no return call.

So on pick up day you ask whats up and they say they over booked the 12 age group so they moved a few up to the underenrolled 15/16 year old cabin.
