Everyone saying no jewelry is correct by law and principle. However, what makes this tough and I'm sure what prompted OP to post this is the lack of consistency with the referees allowing jewelry. Sometimes they allow jewelry as long as it's taped, sometimes they follow the Laws and don't allow anything.

FIFA and Club rules, no jewelry.

Have him leave it at home, and put it on after he showers after the game.

Even girls with just pierced ears with small studs have to take them out.

Safety issue more than anything.

This. It doesn’t matter whether it has religious significance or not — this is for the safety of the players, including first and foremost your kid who is most likely to be the worst injured by something like that.

My son takes his off for every game. Standard.

Parents should wear whatever they want.

You can tape wrists and write on that.

Actually the referee was wrong to allow it. Right from the Laws…,

All items of jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not permitted.

Remove it and put it back on when the game is over. t’s dangerous.

Removing jewelry is standard practice in sports.

I get that it’s religious and important to him, but he doesn’t want it to turn into a garrote during the game. It’s a safety thing and I’d plan to tape it down or take it off every game - preferably take it off. Your best case is that it just gets broken during a game…

That is pretty standard practice. Expect it to be the norm.
