One real problem with all agencies is age. They want you to be YOUNG and most DC professionals try infertility first then some years go by and you are not young.

Adoptions Together has a good reputation.

As a single person, I feel they are inclusive (whereas others made you feel odd, if you were not in a couple). But I did not adopt through them myself (just went to some of their functions/information session).

For international adoption, a very good/experienced agency is Holt.

I see that they also facilitate domestic adoptions, but only in certain states.

Yes we worked with them in 2013, and I know two other families that adopted through them. All of us had positive experiences with infant adoptions (to the extent it matters, among the 4 adoptions 1 was a Caucasian infant, 2 AA infants, and 1 Latino infant).

No, we used two and both were happy to take our money but it never resulted in a child or even a match. We used JSSA for our home study.

Seconding the PP who observed that you can use any adoption agency so long as a home study is done through a local agency. And you may be able to complete an adoption faster via an out-of-state agency. Yes!!!! We adopted DD through them when she was 30 days old and she has just turned 9. Very happy with the services they provide. We are a white 2 mom couple and DD is AA. They do a interracial supper group once a month that has been super helpful and is free. It went online during Covid but we used to meet in person. I can answer general questions.
