OP, I just noticed that my two incoming first years now have some classroom assignments in SIS. Just a couple of them but I'm sure they will be populating over the next few weeks

First year is usually to get last pick when it comes to picking their schedules or classes so I know I had a lot of 8 ams first year.

That said, the previous poster’s right that the campus is really busy in the main part and especially from the freshman dorms, it’s really easy to get to most classes.

hahahah who said I would not let her go? As her mother, just wanted to gage how far she'd be walking at night, potentially alone, in a city where we get frequent notifications about assaults around campus. Yeah my DD has grown up in a town of 600 people so she's not super savvy about city life so just wanted to counsel her that if it's far and late, that she should make sure she's walking with a friend etc. That may be too much helicoptering to you, but I think that's parenting.

It's not that big of a campus. Most of the arts and sciences classes are in the center part. Engineering buildings are all together too. If you were taking classes in architecture or art and had to get the a science building, that would require a bike/scooter.

The campus is super busy with people walking around until late. 6 PM is like rush hour. Lots of people around. I wouldn't worry about walking alone until later in the night.

You are a jerk. My D goes to UMD and it’s a large campus and we knew where classes were located before signing up. I’m glad your kids were completely independent and could navigate everything.

Actually, I agree with the "Land the copter" poster. I let my kid figure this out at UMD.

I'm not sure anyone wants another year of remote classes too.

If you read the UVA Today daily, you will note that the room assignments are going to roll out gradually in SIS. There was no start date specified for this process.

It is tough to determine walk time between classes without this info. You can look in the Fall 2019 version of Lou's List to get a general idea of where classrooms end up, but if class sizes have expanded or contracted since 2019 it's hard to guess.

It is typical that class locations haven't been assigned at this time? The vast majority show TBA.
