Republicans blocked the gun control laws that we want — that DC citizens want.
Listening to Warren Burger, Nixon’s extremely conservative Chief Justice, is informative:
“The Gun Lobby’s (Federalist Society’s) interpretation of the Second Amendment is one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American People by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime. The real purpose of the Second Amendment was to ensure that state armies – the militia – would be maintained for the defense of the state. The very language of the Second Amendment refutes any argument that it was intended to guarantee every citizen an unfettered right to any kind of weapon he or she desires.” – Warren Burger, Conservative Supreme Court Chief Justice.
Lots of issues are at play, but guns are probably the biggest issue.
RIP to the child. And let’s all fight to have stronger gun control laws. Since DC already voted overwhelmingly for those laws, let’s fight the Fed Soc.
I am all fir taking guns away but DC has a strong gun control law and a huge rate of gun usage in crime. You can control guns until there are nine but how do you make the lives better for people who get guns easily despite gun control. If you have nothing to live for it is easy to kill

A 6-year-old girl was killed and five adults were wounded in a late-night shooting on Friday, horrifying residents of the neighborhood and frustrating investigators who pleaded with the public to help them catch those responsible.
At a news conference on Saturday evening, city leaders mourned the loss of a young life, identifying the girl who was killed as Nyiah Courtney, who would have started first grade in the fall.
She had been riding her scooter on the sidewalk when she was shot.
“I am heartbroken,” said Robert J. Contee, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department. He said those responsible were “cowards who came into the community without any regard for human life,” adding, “I am sick and tired of being sick and tired.”
Police said shots had been fired from a gray sedan that quickly fled the scene.
Nyiah was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital. The five adults who were wounded did not have life-threatening injuries, the police said.
