You can put them in the fridge for 24 hours. I wish I'd known that when having my first.

I think 2 sets of flanges would be good.
I always put mine in the fridge in a wet/dry bag between pumping sessions then washed them in the evening. I liked having a 2nd set becasue it's nice to not have to wait for them to dry before packing your bag for the next day.

FYI - check the sizes on the flanges. I didn't realize right away that my Spectra came with two sets of flanges in different sizes and I was using one of each size. You want to see which size fits you better and use those ones!

I didn't have extras - I put them in a mini fridge in my office between pumps and got a travel bottle brush/rack from oxo and cleaned them at the end of the day at work so I would always have them available there and didn't need to carry them back and forth. I had to pump a lot with DC1 so I had a second pump/set of parts to use at home. That said, I did have a couple late night drives to Target to buy some new parts when something broke so maybe not a bad idea to have one extra set available for an emergency, but I think that happened twice (once with a duckbill, once with the white membrane thing) in a year of pumping.

There is mixed info on whether you can keep them in the fridge - also depends on the cleanliness of said fridge, which is just not an option at work even if in another bag. I pump every three hours so have three sets and wash/sanitize nightly. Money well spent IMO.

Fwiw I washed all my spectra parts in the dishwasher in a little plastic cage. We don’t use heated dry though.

I got extra parts because I got ones that supposedly had a more comfortable flange. I ended up renting a medela and liking those flanges better so I bought a $10 converter adapter on Amazon. People are always giving away pump parts on my moms groups so an adapter saves buying more. I think I ended up with four sets. Not necessary, but it’s nice having spares when you don’t feel like cleaning.
