We’re sending my rising K’er with the same little LL Bean backpack that we’ve used for 5 years as a diaper bag then preschool bag. It fits his body and I bought it with the goal to use it until he needed something larger for books, etc. I suspect we’ll be getting a larger version of the same pack in 3rd / 4th and then 9th. FWIW, his school doesn’t have homework or textbooks or iPads, and winter outdoor clothes / rain clothes stay at school.

If it helps, the PBK backpacks last for years. We’re still using the ones we got in in 2015 for travel backpacks.

You should also look at Lands End.

I'm looking for a backpack for my daughter for K. Trying to find something small enough that also has a sleeve for an ipad ideally. Any recommendations? I like LL Bean but she isn't in love with the patterns (and she likes a girly pattern!) and they don't have the ipad sleeve. It seems a little crazy to be buying a backpack from pottery barn but maybe that is the current world I live in haha! But they are also really $$$$.

Just looking for something solid, with some fun qualities, that can safely transport an ipad. TIA.
