Don’t stick someone else with this issue.

Sorry, that’s the car manufacturers issue, not OP’s. OP has no obligation to the random stranger who will later buy her old car.

Yep, this is why I refuse to buy a used car. You have no idea what’s going on with it.

This happened to me, I worked with the dealership and they purchased it back from me and I bought another car. Kinda sucked because I did lose money, but they did seem to try and work with me.

Given high value of used cars, now may be an opportunity to sell it. Provided that you can live without this car…

The Corporate offices have trouble shooters and people who can help diagnose problems. Dealers often call them when they have cars they cannot diagnose. The dealer may have already done this, but it's worth asking about.

Also, people are right, take it to another dealership. The dealer isn't going to treat you any special way when it comes to trade in. And some mechanics are better than others with diagnosing and/or fixing problems. My son is a mechanic at a dealership and he is often given vehicles that others cannot diagnose and he figures out the problem.

Do they know what the issue is? Or are you trying to fix a symptom?

I would have gone to a different dealer already. What is the make?

Contact the corporate officer for the manufacturer and complain

Than you for the recommendations.

I have not tried going to another dealership but that will be my next step. I really want to trade it in so I'd like for the dealership i bought it from to give me a break.

I will also try the local rep. I have filled out the surveys and given poor scores.

Looking for advice on how to handle this.

I have had my car for 21 months and it has 20K miles which means I am past the limits of VAs lemon law (under 18 months and 18K miles)

Car was purchased new from the dealer.

I have been dealing with the same issue for a month now and will be dropping it off again for the 5th time.

Is there anything I can do other than keep letting them try to fix the issue. I am ready to dump the car at this point but will probably lose a lot on the trade in value.
