I agree 100%. You’ll use Apple CarPlay for virtually everything, like Google Maps, Spotify, etc. and CarPlay is great. Reviewers used to ding Lexus for the bizarre joystick they used to have for operating the old infotainment, but CarPlay uses the touchscreen so that’s no longer an issue.

I will say that well-equipped (not base model) Audi, BMW and Mercedes have sexier more cutting edge infotainment. Audi’s Google Maps integration is really nice. But the trade-off is that they aren’t as reliable as Lexus and they cost more to repair.

No regrets going with Lexus now that CarPlay is there.

You sound like a bitter BMW driver or maybe you're getting old yourself and prone to forgetting stuff. None of the 2008MY Lexus models had both an analog clock and a cassette player.

Lexus has always been about 10 years behind the times on technology. I remember I test drove a Lexus (first and last time) in 2008 and this brand new model still had both an ANALOG CLOCK in the middle of the dashboard and also A CASSETTE TAPE PLAYER. I asked, why the hell are these things in the car, and the salesperson responded, and I quote, "Most of our customers are old people and prefer things this way." Yep, bye bye

I don't have a Lexus, but have thought about one in the future. Every time I read a review, the writer provides glowing remarks except for the infotainment system, which they find difficult to use and forces drivers to take their eyes off the road. Doesn't seem to matter which Lexus model, the issue is the same. That said, does it bother any of you Lexus drivers? For me, I'd like an easy to use infotainment system, preferably with CarPlay capability, but that seems to rule out Lexus. Thanks.
