the neighborhood pool? depends on which son - one could have gone at 5, the other is not ready at 6. and either could change in a stall just fine or with me holding up a towel in the corner. By 7, he would be horribly embarrassed to have anyone see him change, especially a classmate.

but like the airport bathroom? stadium? that would be older, like 10. not because of any real fear of molestation, just weird men or seeing drunk men peeing all over.

No, but I would have him change at home or in the car or even just under a towel, not out in the open in the women's locker room with his privates on full display. I felt bad for the kid, he was obviously embarrassed when he realize a girl from his class was seeing him naked and noticed my daughter staring. I was shocked his mother didn't care.

I take my 6 y/o in the women’s locker room with me if my DH isn’t there. I mean, what else am I going to do? I am not going to send him into the men’s room alone. But I agree about finding a stall. If no stall, then I might hold up a towel and try to be discrete in a corner.

I'm assuming there isn't one in this scenario or of course that would be the most suitable option. But I don't see a lot of those.

I would use a single family bathroom at that age for my sons.

It really depends on the setup and what he would all need to do alone in there. But I would say six to eight would be a good start

2nd grade

I took my seven year old daughter to the pool today and when we got there, a boy from my daughter's class at school was in the locker room getting changed out of his bathing suit with his mom out in the open in full view of my daughter. His mother was making no effort to cover him up so my daughter saw everything. Thankfully my daughter had her swimsuit on already so she didn't need to get changed in front of him. Am I wrong for thinking it's just really not appropriate for a boy older than a toddler to be in there with his mom? How old is too old do y'all think?
