We initially thought that we would either donate to science or bring them home. That was before having kids. After having my daughter, I knew I would never choose the options I initially thought I would select. I can’t imagine destroying this possible gift of life. We would donate the embryo and give other families this chance to have a child.

We are in the exact same position except we have three on ice, they are PGS normal, and I'm 48 with three kids so done with babies. Leaning toward transferring in the wrong part o the cycle.

Not sure that you could do it for 8 embryos but you could do transfer at the "wrong".time when it for sure will not take. If you did get pregnant, it was meant to be, but you most likely won't and then it was like any other transfer. If it did not work it was sad but not meant to be...

But I understand how hard it is.

After three kids, we had one embryo left and decided to donate to science. It was a tough choice but we knew we were done having kids and we couldn’t agree on donating to another couple (I wanted to but my partner did not). It was sad but it’s nice not to pay storage fees anymore.

It sounds crass today but this was part of the reason people had large families long ago.

If you can afford to continue paying the storage fees I’d keep them for now.

We only have one remaining and I don't think we will use it. So I dunno what to say, OP. It weighs on me when I think about it. But I can't bring myself to do anything with it...

I know that I’m incredibly lucky to be in this situation but it’s something that weighs heavily on me. We did IVF when I was 30 and I had over 20 eggs retrieved. 17 fertilized into 5 day blasts and I got pregnant with my first transfer. They froze the ten best blasts, two of which are now my second and third children. So I have 8 perfect frozen embryos with 30 year old eggs and we are finished having children. But I cannot bring myself to get rid of them, nor am I comfortable donating them. I don’t know what to do. In my mind those are my babies and one of my current children could be there if they hadn’t been “picked.” I understand this is the risk you take doing IVF but I had no idea my body would respond like it did and I would end up with so many. I guess I am just looking for anyone who had been in a similar situation and wondering what you did. And to everyone who is still struggling- I’ve been there and wish you all the luck in the world to find your happiness and family.
