I don’t send late night/early morning texts out of courtesy. I don’t need a reply at 5am, so I don’t need to send it at 5am.

I also know people who need to keep their phone on 24/7 (physicians, LEO, etc) and don’t want to disturb them.

I personally use DND because I have friends who text me late at night. I wish I didn’t have to, in case there’s an emergency.

I think it’s very selfish to feel entitled to text 24/7 and put the burden on the recipient to use DND. Not everyone can or wants to.

I am on text groups with people all over the world, so it is always nighttime for someone. We don’t worry about it and assume that people can manage their own notifications in a way that works gor them.

DP, I think it's you who has the inflated ego if you expect everyone to know and contact you only with specific hours. Put your phone on silent, and it's no problem. People have different schedules and you/they respond when they can.

My phone is on silent. If you’re the type who thinks I need to know that I need to see a photo of Janie’s ballet recital at 7 a.m. on a Sunday, I’m fine if we fall out of touch.

Close friends only 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. unless it’s an emergency.

Texting hours are 24/7. If you don't want to receive alerts, adjust your phone settings.

I'm a morning person and go to sleep early. If someone texts me at 9pm when I'm in bed, it's fine. And if I respond at 4:45am, it's also fine. I put my phone on silent when sleep and so should you.

6 AM to 10pm.

I work in public safety. Which is a 24/7 operation, obviously. I took my cues from the people I work with. So my range of texting is 6pm to about 10pm.

Otherwise, 8am to 9pm for me, unless I know someone really well.

Just curious. Do you send texts at random hours, on the assumption that everyone uses do not disturb?

I’m an early riser, and often try to get stuff done while the rest of the house is still sleeping, but wait to send texts until after 9am.
