Your soup won't be hot enough to melt the plastic unless it is some kind of cheap knockoff.

Agree with PPs that immersion blenders are the way to go for soups. I can’t imagine pouring hot soup in and out if a blender.

This is one of the reason that many blender tops have the little plastic cup that you can unscrew from the top. Unscrew the top and cant it to the side, but hold it on, you can let the steam escape without splatter and the top won't explode.

But I agree with the suggestion for the immersion blender. It's so much easier than the old blender method.

One more vote for the immersion blender and it doesn't need to be an expensive one. I have 2 and always reach for the cheaper one because it's lighter weight and easier to use.

Another vote for immersion blender.

Putting something piping hot in plastic isn't great. The heat can make the top pop off and spew hot soup everywhere.

The immersion blender is quick and easy, and easy to clean if you do it right after blending.

I was making carrot soup and I took it from the stove hot and poured it into the blender. I blended it very quickly but I am now worried I will consume melted plastic
