It depends on what you do. My sis in law is an accountant so she timed her babies for summer so they weren't born during tax season.

Biology generally doesn’t GAF about you being a “super planner”

I had my two in late May/early June (was in graduate school and wanted to maximize summer vacation). It was a lovely time of year to have kids but I would say March or April would be the absolute best (around here). You don't get out much in the first month and then you will have a ton of lovely weather to get out and about once you're ready to be on the move.

Let me just say, OP, that the first lesson you need to learn is that your super planner lifestyle will go out the window the day your child is born. Ten years from now, you will look back on this post and marvel at the naivety that you are displaying here.

First baby ideal timing is January Bc you can hibernate w/ newborn for winter and once they hit 3-month mark it’s spring!

Subsequent babies - spring is good timing Bc the winter crud won’t be an issue from the older siblings.

I have one in Feb and it's a great month. Perfect for school cutoff and in March the weather is nice.

Any month can be nice. I have a friend who wanted a October baby so she could take October, November and December off to be with family.

I had August babies and LOVED it. Maternity leave in the fall, cooler weather once baby and I started going out, wearing winter/fall clothes until I was able to get the baby weight off was nice. I also like being able to take vacations with them over their birthdays.

DH is a January baby and that's the worst IMO. Everyone is just done after Christmas, a lot of people are very depressed or not getting together in January. He usually gets a combined present from his family versus two separate presents. It's too cold to do anything or go anywhere.

I had three babies in winter. Loved it because my the time you are ready to leave the house it is nice out.

Cheapest is July because then you save on a year of daycare.

I tried to plan this around my teaching job. Turns out I had no control over things like miscarriages.
Point being, you can try to plan these things but you may be setting yourself up for more stress in doing so.

Not August. It's too hot and your kids will be the youngest in the grade, which make them late getting drivers' licenses, having fewer summer job and activity opportunities, etc.

DC1 was due December 31, DC2 is due late July/beginning of August. Pros of winter - more comfortable to be pregnant temperature wise, by the time it was hot out, baby was old enough for sun screen and bug spray (~6 months), when it was cold, we could still bundle up and get out a lot of the time, baby was born early so DH had a little extra paternity leave since his office is closed for week between Christmas and NYE. Cons of winter - flu season, hard to push a stroller when it's snowy/icy. Pros of summer - not flu season, will still be on leave in the fall when weather cools down and hopefully we can go on lots of long walks, I get basically an extra week of maternity leave because of all the holidays (Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving). Cons - when it's 90 degrees our outdoor options, even walking in a stroller, are extremely limited, being at the end of pregnancy is a lot less comfortable in the heat and I don't even want to go on walks when it's so hot out so I'm personally exercising less this pregnancy.

Also, and this is probably more specific to us, but a lot of family isn't local. They all want to come to meet the baby and we would love them too, but especially with Covid, want to wait till the baby is at least 2 months which means all the nieces and nephews will just be getting back to school so it's probably going to push off family visits for even longer.

I wanted April/May. Warm enough to be able to go for walks and not worry about flu season in the hospital, birthdays during the school year (a big deal for kids!) and no question about sending to K on time. I’m also a teacher, so it would be logistically easy to take off the rest of the school year and wait until august for day care.

I got feb and March because mine decided to be premies though, lol.

This may sound like a silly question but are there more ideal months to have a baby? I know some people worry about cut offs for going to kindergarten. Are there any other factors as well?
