How old is your child? If under 2 and traveling as a lap baby, you might need to show proof of age, but birth certificate or vaccination records have been enough for us. Other people under 18 don't need ID.

You don’t need ID to travel domestically in the US if you are under 18. If you feel the need to take ID on a flight, your child’s passport will suffice.

I didn't think the tsa requires children to have I'd to travel domestically.


Also in Maryland and most states the child I'd is a profile photo. How will that help identify anyone?

We have an appointment at VA DMV on July 20 to get my DS his state ID for domestic air travel. Do they issue it immediately, or will they mail it to our address? We travel on August 2, so a bit nervous. Thanks!
