I knew someone on that block. Home was very nice, great neighbors, quiet, and the location is amazing. Racquet Club was maybe 1 block away, can walk to Giant, CVS, Starbucks, Pub, Santinis, McLean Hardware, Cava, just tons of places.

They have these at Two Rivers in Odenton, and I hate them. Also add in a very shallow front yard, barely long enough driveway to park a car in -- it just screams THIS DEVELOPER IS GREEDY, CHEAP, AND CUTS CORNERS. But people are forking over their $800k. I don't get it.

We rejected that when my kids were really little because I didn’t want to be hauling car seats and groceries and toddlers up the stairs from the garage. It’s also not great if you have mobility impaired folks visiting regularly, or if you’re old enough that you see bad knees in your near future.
Otherwise, I think it’s fine.

Not my favorite living space, but beggars can’t be choosers, OP. I try to avoid too many stairs in general. I’ve lived in very, very, small spaces and in very large ones.

Hmm I guess I live in a sideways house and I love it. It's a sfh side hall colonial. My view is not of the street at all. It just feels so private. My next door neighbors have front facing houses. I can open my front door and not have any one from the sidewalk stare into my house. We hang out on the front porch but it's on the side, so very cozy. I wasn't looking for this feature at all but now I love it.

As with many things, if the price is right. I believe they call them patio homes. Center hall colonial preferred though.

Not to get hung up on this particular house, just asking about this style. ie: front door on side, etc.

I live in one, except it has a “bonus room” in front and the two car garage in back. Up one flight of stairs to the main level and kitchen, up another flight of stairs to the bedrooms.

At first I thought it was pretty weird. But the price was right, the square footage was right, and the location was perfect, so we went for it.

6 months later, I am in total love with this layout. It’s not what I grew up with (a cape) or what I’d’ve chosen from a catalog, but it is so nice. The upstairs stays really clean because we leave all shoes downstairs and dirt doesn’t come in the front door. The views from the second and third story are great. I even get a little exercise on the stairs! And it just feels private and cozy, like our own little eyrie.

So, obviously people’s tastes vary, but if you have never lived in that kind of set up you might be surprised at how nice it is! I was.

Can you link to an example? I can’t visualize what you mean.

With the garage underneath, and many stairs to the front door? I think I would feel cramped. ie: It looks like two houses were wedged into one lot.
