This sounds so great! We are in south Arlington though. DC has found a great group at their GSA club at school. I wish tin guys the best.

Try asking on your local Nextdoor. Someone recently asked a similar question regarding local youth support groups and people were very responsive. I’ll see if I can still find that info.

Ugh don’t listen to these PPs. They sound nasty. I live in Arlington but my kids are young and we haven’t encountered any gender identity issues yet. But I just wanted to say you sound like a caring mom and I hope your daughter makes some new friends this summer!

I moved one summer as a teen (before the Internet existed so there was no way to meet anyone in my new town). It was a hard, lonely summer, which I wouldn’t wish on a kid. Maybe you can check out some local pools too. Just try to find teens in the area, even if they aren’t trans. You just need trans accepting people of which there are hopefully many. Good luck!

My 15yo trans daughter came out at the beginning of the summer and we are wholly supportive and happy for her. Going from a "boy mom" to having a daughter and doing girl things has been honestly really fun and a great bonding experience. She is getting gender-affirming counseling from the Pride Clinic at Children's National, and all is mostly well, with the exception of her queer friend group from her (private) school living too far away to practically hang out much (without parents driving over all creation) during the summer (plus several of them are at camp and incommunicado). Wondering if there are any trans --or generally queer--teens in this age bracket (14-17ish?) living in our area that might want a new queer friend? Yes, iI suppose I am looking to set up a playdate for my 15yo LOL. She has no trouble making and keeping friends, the issue is just geographic proximity.
