This is the correct answer.

My mom has this situation, and has for about 20 years. They are more like long term companions, with the perks of a relationship, without the annoyances that come with co-habitating and combining finances. It works because they are both financially secure.

I am married with a young child (and no current interest or plans in divorcing) but admittedly this sounds so nice. I wonder if my DH would be interested in maintaining separate residences at some point in the distant future when the kids are grown. Or some kind of compound with separate space. I love him and love our kids; I miss being alone and having space that was just mine.

Do either of you have kids.

OP here. This is ideal for me (at some point in the future).

Raises hand, man here and will never marry again. What's the point? I don't want to have more kids. Doesn't mean I am single, I have an active dating life and some relationships that have lasted several months.

I'm a guy, I've been divorced for almost 2 years. Covid sorta put a crimp in any efforts to date for the last 18 months. Nonetheless I am perfectly happy being single, and I don't see any point in remarrying (especially because I'm all done having kids).

Yes. But I knew I didn’t want to remarry.
Marriage is only required/helpful if you have kids involved. I’m not having more biological kids and have no interest is step parenting.
Been divorced 8 years.

Yes, divorced 11 years and have no intention of ever marrying again. I'm much happier single!

I was married for 24 years and got alimony for life. Alimony stops if I remarry. So, no.

I’ve been divorced for four years and have no intention of every remarrying. I have a long term SO who I see frequently and adore but I don’t see any reason to ever get married again.

Interesting. How old were you when you met him?

I am divorced and have no plans to ever remarry (I am a woman). I am just wondering if people ever change their minds about remarrying many years later. If you are divorced and happily single, how many years have to felt this way and do you think this is a permanent feeling? Or have you been happily single in the past but eventually changed your mind? (And if so, how many years did it take?)
