I'm betting you also brushed off the property crimes that occurred during the riots last summer because "insurance will cover it." Guess what - it didn't.

This is a nice thought, but I really don’t think violent criminals care about DC statehood.

If DC is no longer concerned about thefts from autos and other mere property crimes, then DC should stop taxing such property.

Oh, and does DC pay one’s car insurance? And who pays once insurance rates increase after a claim is made?

It’s not just that crime is up. It’s that the criminals have become much more brazen. The theft of Mary Cheh’s car in broad daylight. The murder of the Uber eats driver. The shooting of the mom and child in Logan. The drive by shooting in Cleveland Park. Criminals know they have the upper hand after all the BLM/defund the police protests. We are not far off from being San Francisco where thief's just walk into stores and take what they want. Wake up people.
