I was an Olympic hopeful in 2008 and 2012 and even back then there was an app for USADA and WADA (plus the website) and there was no question about what you can and cannot have in your system when in and out of competition. I had to reference it every single time I went to the doctor.
So, I don’t feel bad for her. She knew. She did it anyway.

I’m sad she made a mistake that will cost her the Olympics.
I think this experience will make her grow as a person.
A reporter notified her that her mom was dead the day she smoked pot. She used an unhealthy coping mechanism to deal with that.
She’s human. I almost love her more now.
I hope she gets the counseling she needs and thrives.
I actually think she will be a better role model with this misstep.
Michael Phelps also got caught smoking pot. Didn’t stop him.
