Maybe because OP isn't getting relevant responses to her question.

Me, either. OP, I'd take this extremely negative comment about Campbell with a huge grain of salt.
I've heard nothing but good things from Campbell families, and I know several from my neighborhood. In fact, we almost chose Campbell when our kids started school; but ultimately went with our neighborhood school for its convenience, even though Campbell wouldn't have been terribly inconvenient for us.

If you like more outdoor time and the expeditionary learning approach, go with Campbell. But both Campbell and Oakridge are very good schools.

The principal is not a very nice person. Disagree with her in any way and she will blacklist you. I avoided her like the plague. I also found her stuck up and out of touch. She came from ASFS and she the ASFS principal are like peas in a pod. (That is not a good thing in my opinion.) She has staff favorites and treats the ones she doesn’t like horribly.

But she was APS’ 2020 Principal of the Year. Yikes!

A fairly meaningless award. It just rotates around. SOMEbody has to win it each year.

I agree. The principal is not a very nice person. I know several families who transferred out. The principal and her attitude towards parents (and some teachers) was one reason why. They promote themselves as being one thing and then really don't live up to it in reality. For example they promote kindness, etc., but then don't treat families very kindly and I agree she blacklists people. Asking any questions of her is complete not OK. You are expected to praise all things Campbell and if you ever ask why something is done a certain way or just try to get more information she shuts you down.
Just my two cents.

Our experience at Campbell was that they had very low academic standards and a principal who could barely tolerate parents and lets parents know that she'd rather not interact with them. Also, little to no communication between school and parents. But the main thing was that the academic standards were about just getting by, not excelling.

We gave it a few years and then transferred out. Best decision we've ever made.

Interesting, there are also 3 threads for someone trying to find a spot for a 3rdgrader from Arlington in the private school forum.

Did you get in? Campbell is a lottery school. Campbell is wonderful but nothing like private school so if that’s what you were hoping for, stay in private.
