Oh wow, this is OP, I thought that was only for tornaments? This year my son guest played for another team in the club (regular season game) and then his own club on the same day. We obviously would not have done that if we knew it was against the rules.

They got rid of that rule this year due to COVID to make sure that they didn't have a bunch of forfeits. Not sure what the plan is for this upcoming season.

I know Loudoun recruited rec players when they couldn't fill the teams. It actually caused a family who wanted to try out to decide they wouldn't do it because they felt it was too watered down for the cost.

Assuming the club is large enough with many other teams, they will be able to scrounge together enough players for games by pulling guests from higher level teams, players from younger teams playing up, players from girls teams (if younger ages), players looking to switch clubs. It sucks because the team will be different from game to game, and some games there will be little to no subs. Tournaments become a problem too.

They will either try to fill in the gaps with players on the team above (marketed as a way to get more game time) or maybe try to get some supplemental tryout kids, but in 11v11 you really need 14+ kids so the likelihood of consistently finding 4 more will be challenging. Depending on the club they will do everything possible to keep the 10 paying kids $ flowing no matter what or will say it's not in the best interest of the kids for the team to remain and disband. Either way it's not a good situation for the player, parents, or club.

Thanks. My son would be happy to come and guest play for them if needed, but obviously not every game since he has his own team that he has obligations to.

What club and age ? If you tell us maybe people still without a team will be attracted to fill the spots.

I'm sorry but I am not comfortable doing that in a public forum yet (vs. to one family that we are close friends with), as I learned of this issue from a coach, and I am not sure if he would want me to. If he oks it, I will definitely come back and do so.

did they accept payment from your friend, if so they are going to have to find a team for them. My guess is that top team absorbs some kids from the second team, the second team back fills from the third team plus grows its roster and so on until the extra 10 are accounted place on the bottom team and other players are bumped up.

People are still looking so more could be added, family should probably talk to coach or club to see their plan. It's possible that for games they will borrow from your son's team or any other above. It sucks for practices though unless they can train with your son's team to have better numbers.

My son is on the team one above, but his best friend accepted an offer for this team. Are they likely to be able to get enough players? I would say something and suggest that his friend try out or contact other clubs if not, but leave it alone and say nothing to the friend's family if they are likely to be able to field the team.
