I grew up in Orange County and TCU was very popular there--maybe not so much in NorCal?

I grew up in Dallas, so decently familiar with it.

Stellar reputation in Texas (esp DFW area), good reputation in the south/southwest/California, not as represented in the North (not that its reputation is BAD, per se, just seems like vast majority of grads end up in TX/ATL/FL/CA/AZ/CO, not so much DC/NY/Boston/Chicago)

Definitely has a "privileged" vibe, pretty conservative -- not in the social way necessarily but in a "country club Republican" kind of way -- lots of Paul Ryan Brett Kavanaugh types

Actually not that religious despite the Christian in its name

Students very outgoing, generally smart but not in a "life of the mind" type of way (more focused on pre-professional endeavors)

Great business, journalism, nursing programs.

IIRC most students are not from Texas, but it definitely has a "Texas" vibe

Nice size- not too big, not too small

Big 12 athletics

Big Greek life

And yes, it's a very wealthy student body.

My daughter is beginning her freshman year at TCU in the fall. Texans make up 40% of the class, but California is second. There are two other girls from Visitation going, as well as at least one St. Stephens boy, some from Episcopal, and two from Holy Child. There are a lot of kids from Chicago, NY/NJ, and Atlanta in this upcoming class (I just came back from orientation last night). She also got into SMU but chose TCU because she liked the campus better (bigger). Greek life is huge, and the general atmosphere on campus is very happy.

Great nursing program. School that’s getting more competitive. Decent option if you have the funds and want a job in Texas.

Unless your kid is going to live and work in Texas after college, I don't see the point.

That said, it's a great school for Texans and making connections and having fun.

Great school for outgoing rich kids that love Football, God and Texas. I’ve known quite a few kids that go there and they all love it. It has one of the largest largest percentages of students coming from 1 percent households - so not exaggerating about the rich part.

TCU culture tends to attract "preppy" kids and revolve around Greek life and sports.

TCU is located in a suburban area with a more "Texan" feel, and has a different vibe than SMU/Dallas.

My niece was in a forced quad at TCU freshman year with 3 roommates.

Gives some merit for high scores

Was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge about the school besides what the website says. We are from NYC area so don’t know much or anyone who went or goes there. Seems to be less popular than SMU which is more competitive and draws more of a crowd from NYC and DC area
