If you want to have this in Arlington, just go to the PTA and request it. As long as they aren't a clique who hates math, you will be able to get them to sponsor it. Even if they do hate math, the PTA could make thousands of dollars off of this, so they would likely still do it.

That's strange that if the school pays for it, enrollment is not open to the whole school, but if the PTA pays, it is open to everyone, or at least PTA members.

My kids are in FCPS and this program has not been organized by the PTA at their school b/c the parents who historically coordinate it (AAP parents) don't want to open it up to the whole school (even if it has limited enrollment and requires parent participation). That is the case with any academic program run at the ES. The parents go straight to the Principal.

PTA covers this in many schools in Loudoun. Two different schools host tournaments in the spring.

Why?


Math Olympiad is used in FCPS, most often in AAP classes. It's part of the activities that's paid for by the county/schools not PTA.
