Then why not make this a law? Don't helmets save lives too? Maybe more so than lowering the speed limit 10 MPH? I find that the lower the speed limit, the more aggressive the drivers.

It's not a major arterial anywhere, and certainly not between Nicholson Lane and 355. Have you been there lately? It's one lane each way, with lots of people walking and biking (and parking), not to mention shopping at Whole Foods. The speed limit before today was 30.

I can't go less than 40 on that road without feeling like a snail. There is never anyone on it. Why not just designate one lane on each side for bikes?
