Thanks 19:25 for being concerned. I have a super-fast metabolism; my weight has been consistent for the past 20 years, though BFing recently put me back to the lower end of my range. Even if I gain some weight back, most of the issues will be the same. Most important features: jacket fits, no midriff showing, pants not too short.

Yeah, I've found Ann Taylor to be hit and miss. Some great and perfect stuff (from several years back), but also many items made for people either shorter or wider than I am. Will look at the other places you suggested. Thanks.

OMG, if you are not a very thin person you can't possibly understand! Grass is always greener. Enough with the sour grapes! For the record, the AVERAGE store (Anne Taylor, Banana Republic, etc.) does NOT cater to very thin women at all. We are not talking about wearing couture on the catwalk...just trying to find some nice clothes to wear to the office that don't need to be taken in.

I am 5'4" and barely 100 pounds. I've had a very difficult time finding work clothes. If you are 100 pounds you do not fit into size 0 for work clothes. It's very very difficult. I've had to shop at places like Forever 21 to find pants. I've spent tons altering clothes. It sucks. Sure, I'd rather have this problem than be on the other end of the spectum, but it's no picnic.

OP, I've had the best luck with Theory. They have size 00, which is smaller than 0. You can find it at Bloomies or saks and some boutiques. They are on the pricy side but very good quality and stylish but simple clothes. You're taller than me, but I think Theory is on the long side. I think Banana also started carrying 00. If you can pick through the cheap looking stuff and find the more mature pieces, I've found that places like Forever 21, Arden B, and bebe run smaller but you just have to do some digging to find work appropriate stuff. HTH.

103 is scarily underweight. I'm surprised your doctor hasn't mentioned anything.

To answer your original question, though, you might try BR and J Crew--they tend to have longer inseans. You will probably have to get your pants taken in regardless, though.

16:29 here. To OP: that you don't seem to understand that your body is the standard mannequin size for designers. That you can walk in to any store and put on anything like it was tailor made for you. That everything hangs well on your body and most stuff probably looks good on you.

And yes, I do have sour grapes. I have a DD chest and an ass to match... much harder to find clothes that look good.

I'm 5'8" and 135 lbs. Ann Taylor runs large, you'll have trouble even with their size 0, I think. (their 4L is what I usually wear). And the pants are short, if you have long legs. Nothing ever fits me there. Try BCBG and J. Crew, and try online shopping so you can get long slacks if you have the length problems I have.

OP here, thanks 12:07 and 12:23 for the responses. There is no "problem" (13:24) other than that my work wardrobe is starting to scream "mid 90's". Will start my search with Ann Taylor and Banana Republic (have had some success in the past with both).

I don't know if "the fashion industry caters" to people who are 5'8" and weigh 103. I'm just looking for brands, stores, etc, that would work at my workplace and that might fit. If I have to resort to alterations (thanks for the tip 12:07) then so be it.

12:49, I wandered into Lane Bryant once as a teenager, not knowing who the store catered to. I got some strange looks...

Can't imagine why that would be a problem.

Yeah, I'm sort of puzzled by this one too. I'm 5 feet 3 inches so I like stores who have petite options and who cater to more "average" height women, but it's pretty easy to find clothes for thin women. I would say any store that is not a plus sized women's store. So, stay away from Lane Bryant and you're set.
