Huh? The question is why parents are required to wear masks, not why some choose to wear them. You are in the wrong thread.

It makes perfect sense to ask for parents to wear masks when the children and staff are masked. Better than having a bunch of kids whining about why they have to wear masks if the parents don't. Having that rule and strictly enforcing it are two different things. I highly doubt the random staff person running the drop off line is going to spend the time to do more than remind parents once or twice. What are they going to do, kick the parent out of line and refuse to let the kid in school? Not hardly...

Three families at my school lost a parent or grandparent who was a primary caregiver so the relatively minor inconvenience for two more weeks is fine by me to make everyone comfortable.

I simply don’t wear one when it’s hot. I am vaccinated, and there is no crowding.

I wouldn't know because my child has not attended a single day of in-person learning this school year.

I have not been wearing one when I just am walking by the school for drop-off. At pick-up you actually wait on school grounds so I've been respecting the rules and wearing a mask. I think it is super dumb but I don't expect any changes before the end of the year next week. A lot of parents seem really uncomfortable letting go of masks even though every parent I know is vaccinated.

This year is a wash I know.. I'm mostly saying I hope they get rid of this for this Fall.

Most parents have given up on masks outdoors at our charter. There's no crowding and kids are all still masked, but we walk or bike and some days I forget my mask too and don't realize until I'm already there. But if kids and staff are masked, it doesn't hurt anything to meet them where they are and put a mask on for a few minutes.

I agree OP it's stupid.

Because you’re crowded around the entrance with a lot of unvaccinated children. You can wear a mask for the 5 min it takes to drop your kid off. Be kind.

Stores are no longer requiring masks INSIDE so why does DCPS still require parents to wear a mask at outside drop off when we're not even going in the building?
