What products do you use?

Does it smell slightly like a fruit that is overripe? Is the oatmeal smell one that seems slightly sweet in an off way? That's probably oils. Like body oils trapped in the washer. I agree with PP to wash the washing machine with a product made specifically for that purpose.

are you regular washing your washer? I didn't know that I was supposed to do that and then realized it started smelling funky so bought a special detergent thing for the washer. Also wipe down the inside edges, you may find gunk.

Maybe try switching to a different detergent.

Over the years I would notice sometimes that other people’s laundry rooms smelled like something, and the only thing I could compare it to was the smell of oatmeal bath from when I had chicken pox.

Fast forward and my own laundry/laundry room is starting to get that smell sometimes! It’s not bad? Per se, but it’s weird and not very fresh. It’s different from the smell of mildew like when you leave damp clothes in the washer too long (and not as unpleasant) but maybe it’s another kind of bacteria/mildew?

Does anyone know what I’m talking about?
