They shave at the salon and then laser that area. Later, the hair follicle inside the skin, grows out and falls off. You can continue shaving after the treatment too. You do realize that it will take around 8 treatments to get rid of the hair permanently? So you are looking at 8 months at least.
Underarms, lips and bikini line are painful areas and you will need to give her painkiller and lidocaine numbing ointment too. Also, you need to protect the lasered area from sun exposure etc.
I used to wax my DD's hair myself because the salons do a piss poor job of waxing which resulted in breakage instead of removing hair from root, resulting in a lot of ingrown hair. I am an expert waxer and I took my time using the best ingredients and following strict hygiene. If you can get a great recommendation for a good waxing place, maybe you should get her waxed for the summer camp and also give her a razor and shaving cream to touch up at camp.
