You're generalizing. I know many public school families for whom the year wasn't a disaster at all. You can't use the pandemic of the century as an excuse to bash public schools.
Agreed. My kid had a great time in public this year. His teachers were rockstars. He was admitted to 2 of the Big3 schools and is joining one for 9th grade this fall.

I do think 9th grade can be a hard transition as everyone finds their way, but I think by 8th grade, most everyone is excited to set out on their own adventure.

huh? Our child graduated from Norwood and it's appropriate that everyone is split up. Norwood has a whole child approach and each class has a variety of learners and personalities. This is one of the best parts of the school. When it comes time for HS placement, 8th graders (and their families) are encouraged to find a school that is a match.
