OP here. I found and recommend Certified Alignments in Temple Hills, MD. They specialize in alignments. By appointment, done in an hour, $75 for most cars. And done right the first time.

Alignments are hit or miss. It's the one repair that you may have to get redone. It seems that techs don't take care to center and lock down the steering wheel - they seem to forget that once they start adjusting the suspension parts, the steering wheel may move around since the steering mechanism is tugging on it, and the car's own steering lock has a significant degree of play.

That said, an alignment isn't something you should have to get frequently. A hit that is hard enough to affect the alignment is pretty severe and would likely have also damaged a wheel.

When I loved in DC I always needed alignments. The roads are not well maintained. I wouldn't potholes on 295 and 395 all the time. Take your car to a tire center. I see to go to ntb and they would do an awesome alignment much better than a dealership

I have Bmw X3 and use Merchant tire/NTB 3 year alignment program. They have a flat 3 year unlimited plan for like $169. Saved a ton of money and they are usually very fast

Why do you keep getting alignments? One and done unless you're changing suspension parts or mangling it in potholes.

I'm tired of having to take my car back to the dealer or my local independent shop following wheel alignment because the steering wheel isn't centered. Are there any shops in the D.C. area that do this and seem to have a better handle on it? Thanks.
