Yeah. I had no salary requirements but I wanted someone smart, hard-working, responsible (ambitious sort of -- he had to have some goals). DH was a lowly non-tenured prof not making much of a good salary when we met. I (in biglaw) made triple what he did. Now it's roughly equal.

No. But I met my husband while we were still in law school.

Not only does it depend on the col, but the age group.

23 yr old man making $60K is fine.
35 yr old man still making $60k in high col, I would think twice.

Not because I'm greedy (I'm actually quite frugal and had more saved than my much older DH when we started dating), but because money is the one of the top reasons why couples fight. If you start a family with this person, more than likely the woman will become the default parent, and the woman will struggle to be the default parent and work a high paying job, not to mention the money stress.

I would advise moving to a lower col area if this is the case.

DH and I both went to no name state univ, and I grew up lower income, so it's not like we come from a privileged elite background.

I had an education requirement. It translated into high salary.

I think it’s pretty naive to not care at all about the income or income potential of your spouse (no matter your gender or the gender you prefer to date). I always cared. So did the men who dated me.

Some people are jerks, most people aren't. Everyone probably is a jerk in some way about something, so of course these women exist. Doesn't mean its a good thing or that you have to give them any attention for it.

LOL. When I married my DH, his salary was 60k! I'd never have met him if I had hang ups about salary or jobs.
