For next year, his teacher told me they're going to put him in Algebra. Is that not what is supposed to be happening? Should he be taking Investigations in Math? Do I need to push back in his upcoming IEP mtg?
He is the only kid using the 5/6 curriculum. I know his teachers moves through the material that he already knows very quickly but I also know that they are only covering modules 1-4 and skipping 5 & 6. I'm wondering if he's going to go into Algebra with gaps that won't be realized until much later.

Massive eyeroll. They'll use this as an excuse to hinder acceleration.
Your child can still register for course even if not recommended. The easiest way to do this is to take free summer school this summer. Both of my kids are jumping a year in math by taking courses both sessions. 6 weeks to gain a year. We did start one kid tutoring in January to support taking that course, but he was new to MCPS so it was mainly working with his sister’s former teacher an hour a week to learn how to answer things the MCPS way.
