I would do it if they had a way to contact you. But what I would really do is give up on zoom school at this point.

Our summer is very full. I was thinking Hershey with all 3 kids and maybe take little one to the please touch museum.

My older kids have been to these places often when they were younger but our third child has never been.

they are all on the road trip. I am sure 12 year old will be very upset not to go down the playground slide.

people here are totally insane. the very same people that will tell you 18 year olds are adults and can do as they please.

Agreed! Or let them skip school for a day or two. Not ideal but at this point...

Where exactly is OP planning on going with the younger child? She just says "take my little one out." Does she mean to sit and read books in the hotel lobby (which I agree would be fine?) Or does she mean to the children's museum 15 miles away (not at all ok?)

Guess we all have different levels of comfort. Like I said, I babysat in other people's houses at 12 and it's a hotel if there was a true emergency there is a front desk.

If internet goes out they miss school and watch TV no big deal. Also have a phone to call mom if there is an issue.

We left our kids alone in a condo on a ski trip when they were 9 and 11. Really not a big deal. They played on their iPads and didn't move from the couch. Heck there was even one afternoon where I left the 9 yr old alone for a few hours.

COVID has also changed my vies of leaving kids home alone and independence. Before this year I was a lot less comfortable leaving my kids home alone, but there were a lot of instances this year where we had no choice.

The location I am planning is Pennsylvania. It is last minute and it may be Philadelphia, Hershey or Lancaster.

Of course that's fine. I used to hang out in the hotel room for hours at a time when I was 9-13 years old because I never wanted to do some of the activities my parents wanted to do. People act as if kids don't have agency anymore these days. I always knew I could walk down to the front desk or pick up the phone if anything was wrong. And that was before cell phones! Make sure the kids can facetime you or whatever and leave them. No wonder this generation of college students can't seem to do anything independently (I am a professor so I see it daily)

To do virtual school for a few hours while I take my little one out?

Considering taking a road trip next week. My preschool child will be finished school. 2 elementary kids have 3 days virtual and 2 in person.

I have never left the kids in a hotel alone. They were too young before covid and we have not stayed at hotels since covid.
