I see nothing wrong with it. What could possibly happen to the baby assuming they are swaddled. They could cry a bit, but it's not much different than putting your baby down for a nap.

I confess one time I ran out to get something from our car which was parked a block away while baby was napping. I definitely wouldn't go somewhere where it would take me 5 minutes to get back.

Don't do this.

Assuming your mail box is in the front yard, those two examples are not "leaving" or going 5 minutes away.

Walking the dog in front of your house? Sure. Getting the mail? Sure.

Logically, yes. Legally and socially, no.

No, no further than the signal for the monitor (not wifi). For me that would include the neighbor’s porch but not their house, and I would have to be sure it was cranked up and very noticeable.

Walking to a neighbors house and quickly returning? Yes. Driving somewhere? Hell no. What happens if you get rear ended get a flat tire or some other crazy crap happens on the way home. House fire? Nope.

I wouldn't do it if it were 5 minutes driving. If it were briefly walking over to a neighbor's house, sure, maybe.

No, you may not legally do this. It may be the case that "nothing will happen," but is it is discovered or if, God forbid, something does happen, you will be in serious trouble.
Also, you say 5 minutes away, which is 10 minutes travel time away from the baby, plus however long you stay there.

To go someplace 5 minutes away? Or is this terrible? Baby has been consistently STTN for a month now and never wakes up until hours later once he is put to bed at 7pm
