My daughter is in K in APS now and there’s very minimal iPad usage on her in person days. I think she doesn’t even turn it on every day. When her class was split in 2 rooms they used the iPads for small groups. Now some specials have the specials teacher projected on the white board and everyone follows along.

I think it will be K with masks on.

Several schools are only offering specials by iPad right now so K-2 are on their iPads about half the time.

Specials are not half the day. It’s 30 minutes.

I think there will be more than a normal year but not as many as DCUM makes it seem.

I’m in another system (FCC) and have a rising K late summer birthday boy we considered red shirting. We met with our principal and asked if they are expecting larger than normal and/or a lot of red shirted kids and he said the numbers are very normal and on par with previous years.

In the return to school report posted today it says that all specials will be in person next year.

Lots of old 6 year olds. That’ll have ramifications down the road, including massive ones for college admissions.

Same experience for my kindergarten kid on the in-person days. I send her with a 100% charged ipad, and it comes back home around 95%. They told us that they're not charging them in the classroom so they just aren't using them much.

Lots of red shirted 6 yos.

Lots more kids than usual who didn't have any preK or group care this year and who need to learn to function in a classroom.

I know no one has a crystal ball here. But realistically what will K be like in the Fall? Will it be lots of iPad time still? If you’re an early education teacher, do you have any insight on this?
