During the winter it was 3 days average for us to return. For example, kid got sick on Sunday. Went to get testing done Monday (sometimes 2-3 hour wait in PG county), get results Wed AM, cant return until Thursday.
The test may only be 24 hour turnaround but its not just 24 hours, there are travel times, pickup times for labs, processing, and posting of results. Minimum 2 days.

My child has some sneezing and coughing, so I have the rapid testing result done which was negative. That is good enough, right? No problem testing needed right?
Even my pediatrician said my child is fine and probably allergy. But, for the safe side, I have the test done. Does your daycare take rapid testing result ?
