Because despite our unseasonal weather, swimsuit season is upon us.

I’m planning on asking the pediatrician at the next appointment when DD can get laser, but for her upper lip. I don’t see how the bikini line is any different. I remember going for electrolysis on my lip in middle school and was glad my mother took me. I’m glad we have laser options now. I told her we could do her lip and underarms when she’s able and she wants to. Other areas haven’t come up yet. She’s 10 but we are hairy people.

Layering is very safe, but it can hurt- a lot. She has to be up for the pain and willing to stick with getting the 5-7 sessions needed to make it worth it. How motivated is she?

And yes, just the bikini area that would be visible outside of a swimsuit- no way to a Brazilian

OP- DD uses Nair right now but I am all in for laser in a few years.

It's her body. She can do what she wants with it, if she can pay for it

OP, you should know that the lasering process affords essentially no privacy. I did it once, and wore what was basically a thin band of paper (wide as a pantiliner) attached to string. Like a super narrow (in the front) thong made of paper. The woman moved it a little to each side as she was lasering - and I was just doing an aggressive bikini line.

I know my 15 year old would not be comfortable at all.

This is personal preference, and even teenagers are allowed to have those. Shaving is at the very bottom of my bikini line hair removal options, and always has been.

OP - I think she is young for something as (semi)permanent as laser. What about waxing? Or epilating?

There are electric razors made just for that area; super gentle even on sensitive skin. I use a gentle touch that is meant for women’s faces and no razor burn or ingrowns. Lasers are probably safe (ask your Derm?), but seems pricey for a young teen.

Because shaving f***ing blows. I have scars and ugly skin from terrible ingrowns I got when shaving as a teen. I wish I had known about lasering and had a mom like OP.

If it is lasering, to me she seems way too young for this. Why can't she just shave? I'm 47 and I don't wax. It litteraly takes seconds. I have a 13 year old and if this is the norm at 15, wow!

If lasering I would be okay with bikini line but not the whole area. I got an at home kit and even though I’m a perfect candidate (light skin and dark hair) and used it many many times, it didn’t work. Waste of time and money (although it did make my leg hair more sparse and easier to shave).

OP, I’m the mom of a 15 year old and I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve googled it and only come up with plant propagation and wearing multiple layers of clothing.

What is it?

My 15 year old has asked for this for her bikini line. Are there any safety issues I should be thinking about? Do most girls do the whole area or just the bikini line? I am not comfortable with the whole area and trying to figure out how common this may be.
