OP’s daughter is not a babysitter. She’s being urged to come over and play games with a 5 year old and make a sandwich.

Hired not urged

I’d say $5 or $6 per hour.

Op here, wow, that’s quite a range. I think $10/hr would be max, considering she doesn’t really have babysitting experience. But she does have younger siblings who she plays with, and will clean up after lunch and playing.

That’s too high. That’s what I pay a high school sitter I leave alone with my two kids.

You're cheap, babysitting is $18/$20 an hour.

That’s horrible! She is still working (no 13 yr old wants to play with a five year old and keep him/her occupied).

I’d pay between $10 and $15 OP.

That’s laughable. For $10 you can hire a teen sitter for one kid. For $15 you can hire a sitter for 3 kids. $5 — $7 an hour is about right.

How is it illegal?
Is it her young age??

I would say $10/Hr is low and $15/Hr is pretty high.

Maybe 12-13.

What’s the going rate for a 13yo mother’s helper? DD has been hired to play with a 5yo for a few hours a week this summer while mom works from home. Duties will include entertaining the kid, plus fix easy lunch (pb&j, cut up veggies, etc.). Dd was asked what her hourly rate is and she doesn’t know what to say so I thought I’d ask here. TIA!
