Why would this be weird? Even giving the same first name as her first name would seem very standard too me. My mom and grandma have the same first names (different middles though). My grandfather and my uncle have the same first and middle.

Yeah, I knew a woman once who was very resentful of her mom naming her after herself, but I think it was specific to that relationship and the fact that her mom was just very self-centered and wanted a mini-me. But that's totally separate from the name thing, and I have known other women who have family names (named after mothers, grandmothers, aunts, etc.) who loved it because it felt special to be carrying on a name.

I think more women should do it. Most kids already have their father's last name so why not?

We know a family that has mom Larla, older daughter Jane, younger daughter Larla. Both Larlas go by their full name, no nicknames, so it can be a bit confusing when referring to them, but overall I love it and I love that it's mother daughter instead of a traditional Junior situation.

I think it's lovely! My family has done similar things:

Great-grandmother: A B (went by B)
Grandmother: A B (went by nickname of A)
Mother: C
Me: A C* (go by A, C* is modified version of C)
My daughter: D C* (goes by C* since D is also a family name that someone goes by and we didn't love the nicknames)

Since your daughter will almost certainly not be using the same name you do on a daily basis I doubt anyone will notice until she explains where her name comes from. I love that all my names are tied to my family.

Doesn’t strike me as odd. My SIL’s gave her first daughter her first name, and her second daughter her middle name as their first names. I’d say go for it, and congrats!

Use the name you want to use.
Some may judge but get used to that as a parent. There will be people on either side of every parenting decision you make. Just do what's best for you!

I have a classic name but have always gone by a nickname. I’d like to give my daughter my full first name as a middle name but didn’t know if this was weird. Obviously dads do it all the time with their sons. Has anyone seen a mom passed on her name to her daughter?
