I think you overdid the compensation. Either toy store OR manicure OR happy meal. Not all three. And quite honestly I wouldn’t get her anything- you do what you need to for your health. My kid would get a hug and a “great job staying calm - I’m proud of you!”

I feel terrible! My 7 year old has complained for about a week about a tooth bothering her (never extreme pain, no tears, etc.) Today she told me it felt Luke her “tooth peeked.” I looked in her mouth, and I think it is an old untreated cavity that is beginning to rot. Prior to covid, she had regular dental care. Luckily, we have a new dentist (we moved) who we have not seen yet (but scheduled appt for early August.) Well, after peeking in her mouth today, I made an “emergency” appt for tomorrow to check it out. In my efforts to “prepare” her for what I think will be pulling the BABY tooth, I think I overdid it, and scares her. I wish I could go back and redo it w/out so much talk. My fault. Lesson learned. I promised her after the appt that we would go to the toy store, get her a manicure, and a happy meal. How do I undo what I did for tomorrow’s dental appt? Thanks!
