Yeah. Sort of… I wouldn’t call that Annapolis, but yes right before the bridge. It’s one of the few places you could probably get away putting up a tent.

Did you promise your kids you would put up a tent in the park and are looking for a spot? If you don’t have a yard maybe you could ask someone you know if you could borrow theirs.

I think you should ditch the idea. That’s a lot of work just to use the pop-up tent, just because you have one.

Well this sucks. I'm going to do a drive past a few parks today to see if I see any tents.

I'd rather not go to Greenbelt because that seems more like for overnight camping type stuff. My boys want to go for runs, maybe ride bikes and have a picnic. We'll see. I may just ditch the tent idea though.

It depends on the park OP. RCP for example has tons of rules that they send you if you rent a picnic site. And DC parks are governed by a different entity and have a different set of rules.

Personally, I cannot imagine someone bothering you for doing this, but I'm sure I would be proven wrong.

You can’t use a tent at the national mall or tidal basin. I think you can at RC park if you are by the picnic tables.

You need to go to Greenbelt Regional Park. They have a camping area. You will not be allowed to throw up a tent on the national mall or in Rock Creek.

Ideally, I'd like to go to the Tidal Basin. I guess I could just set up and see what happens but I just don't want some over aggressive person to come up to my family trying to be the ultimate enforcer.

I’d try. But don’t stake it down. I see hammocks all the time and occasionally screen rooms.

I'm confused as to why you need a tent

I want to take my boys out this weekend to a park. The plan is just to walk / run around and maybe play on a playground, but i was thinking about bringing a pop up tent to somewhere like a park in Columbia or Rock Creek or on the National Mall. I've been searching all day but all the results seem to talk about tent cities and living in tents, which is not what I'm thinking about.

Ideally this could just be a picnic type event for us.

Any help would be appreciated.
