Return to old daycare: Year round care, meals included, 5:45am-6:30pm hours (he'd probably be there roughly 8:30am-4pm but the flexibility to come at 4:30/5pm on some days would be nice).
Private school PK3: Regular school calendar (August to May/June), regular school breaks (winter, spring, summer, etc.), 8:30-3pm hours, must bring lunch/snacks.
The private school is $5K/year cheaper which would be a pretty good savings, but there's obviously no summer care or care during school breaks. Both DH and I WFH, so DS would probably be home with us on breaks (unless we're on vacation) like he is now. I don't imagine him going to any summer camps at age 4 next summer. Our DD9 will probably do a mix of summer camps/staying home like she does now.
WWYD? DH wants the cheaper option of course, but we can truly afford either option.
We are in the same situation and chose the daycare we were with pre-Covid. Ultimately because I’m unable to tour new schools right now I felt more comfortable with this choice. I think actual pre-k is different than preschool for 3 year olds.
