Rec players wear light weight socks. Elite travel players wear wool.

tbh best practice is wear normal gym socks and cut the foot off the soccer sock. Basically have them be shin guard sleeves then tape.

That’s all my older son can wear. He always had wide, big feet. Just sized up to a 13. Leather molds to the foot too. I have fond memories rubbing leather treatment into my cleats as kid..something he never does.

The synthetic ones my younger son wears stink to high heaven. It’s a distinctive cat piss smell that I’ve smelled on some of the other kids shoes in our carpool. Not a fan of synthetic.

agree. I had to get my son a white pair for HS soccer and picked up a pair at Dick's thinking they would be like his other uniform socks---they are so thin, they almost felt like stockings to me. Much thinner than all of his other Nike and Adidas uniform socks. The nike socks my kids wear for their team are soooo thick. I think we went up a shoe size just because of that.

My son wears leather cleats and it helps keeping his feet cool. No synthetic cleat for us!

No ridicule here.

I have yet to find a pair of soccer socks that I don't hate as the household laundry person. Different brands seem to attract fake grass/turf/dog hair like glue in different ways!

yeah you can get nylon ones; just watch out for blisters (maybe get some mole skin)

cycling socks. They won't match a uniform, but they are fun colors and designed to be breathable

Sorry but this is actually a great question. I agree. Most standard issue are either like sandpaper after a few washes or way too thick and warm. Recommendations would be welcome.
