Op here: yes the 3 year old would sleep on the bottom bunk. But just because he sleeps there doesn’t mean he won’t want to horse around climbing the thing during the day and playing with his siblings on it like a jungle gym 🙄🙄

Yes, but hide the ladder. The older child should be able to climb up without it

We got a bunk at that age. 6 year old on top. 3 year old on the bottom. No problems (yet).

The pediatrician would tell you no kid on a top bunk until five.
We bought bunk beds for my son at five, his little sister was not allowed on the top until she hit five.
They followed the rules, yours might not.

I put my two kids, 3 and 6, in those ikea bunk beds where you have a pretty low upper bunk and then for the bottom bunk you can put a mattress on the floor. He really liked it, if felt kind of cozy.

This, and I would not allow the 3.5 year old to sleep up there quite yet. Read, play quietly, etc, but not sleep. My concern is sleepy middle-of-the-night bathroom visits and illnesses, where it could be easy to fall.

Ask an ER doctor. I would not put a 3.5 year old in a bunk.

My kids were 3 and 4.5 when we got bunkbeds. We had very clear rules about them, and have had no issues. They are 9 and 11 now, and still sleep in those same beds.

Get the bunk beds with stairs instead of a ladder. Much safer.

My 3.5 year old needs a bed, he's been in a toddler bed for over a year, and I wanted to get bunk beds. he's the youngest of 3- others are 6 and 9. Neither of them have bunk beds, and I wanted 1 set of bunk beds in the house.

DH concerned theyre dangerous and will lead to many accidents/horse play.

Anyone get bunk beds for a kid that young, or with a kid that young around?
