Bah, perhaps it would "solve problems" for some teachers but it would create problems for many parents.

"One of the most attractive parts of this schedule, for both teachers and students, would be the immense relief of finally having enough time to help students who have fallen behind, or who need more focused reteaching."

Yes let's restructure the schedule for everyone because a few people have "fallen behind".

"So what would our high-flying overachievers be doing while the other students got extra help? All those enrichment activities we also never seem to have time for, "

Pffft go enrich yourselves on the weekend, that's what it's for.

"Can you imagine starting a new week with your plans, schedule, and assignments all organized and ready... Can you imagine starting a new week with your plans, schedule, and assignments all organized and ready?"

A frank admission that you suck at your job.

"Collaborating with colleagues would make for better teaching"

Uh huh. Do your gossiping after hours.

"we need to build in time to breathe, talk, catch up, and learn, "

You've got all summer plus several hours in the afternoon every weekday. If that isn't enough, too bad.

Don't be a twit. Most of us work five days a week.

I don't want a 4 day student week.

I would take 4 days a week if it meant year-round school. But lemme guess, OP doesn’t want that either? “We deserve our summer!!!” Cool. 5 days a week it is then.

Who needs school at all, anyway? Homeschooling is super easy!

Schools shouldn't match work hours. Kids don't need to be at school for 9 hours a day.

Between before and after care, MANY kids are already doing 9 hour days.

That's hardly an ideal situation that everyone should be forced into.

Yes, 4 day work weeks are a great idea. There is no way that schools will go first though
