Nope. We're in a pandemic. It's not worth the risk.

30 people is way too many especially since people will want to get close to baby. We aren’t going to do something real for baby’s birthday but my older DD is turning four and we are having a handful of family and friends in the backyard (fewer than 10 people).

No. Turns 3 next month. DH and I will celebrate with her at home.

I mean if you want one, cool. But if you're feeling stressed about it, it's okay not to have one. Pre COVID I had a few friends over and let my kid smash a cupcake.

First birthday in September, we’ll be having an outdoor party for vaccinated adults and their children. Probably 45-55 people, bubble artist to entertain the kids for a bit.

You can’t possibly be serious. Please tell us you were kidding about that being excellent advice.

Very small and family only. Absolutely no smash cake.

Yeah, we have a first birthday this summer. I’m not into big first birthday parties myself because too much work for me. But if I were going to do it, I’d do a smaller family thing - if for no other reason than I think my one year old would probably freak out at a ton of people in one place given the number of people she’s seen in the last year. But do what you want! I think risk is low though think about how many unvaccinated mobile kids you want around I guess

Yes. Outdoor party for soon to be 5 year old. We are all excited to finally have some friends over!

My third baby will be 1 next month and I’m not throwing a party. COVID wasn’t a factor, just that baby birthday parties are lame. We’ll have a cake for dessert that night and sing to her.

First birthdays are for the parents, so have whichever type of gathering you'd prefer. It's been a long year, if you've been looking for an opportunity to catch up with your local friends, do a friend party, or if you haven't seen your family in a year and need a reason, do a family party.

None of our friends have kids yet, and my parents are coming to visit a few weeks before my DS' first birthday, so we might celebrate early with them, and then do something small, with just our nuclear family, for his actual birthday.

DC's birthday is this summer. Now that all our friends are either vaccinated or in process we are thinking of having a backyard party with our friends and their kids (30-35 people). Alternative would be smaller gathering of grandparents, DH and my siblings, DC's 2 cousins and the godparents. What are other people planning?
